First day of kindergarten is Thursday, September 3
Why don't kindergarten students attend the first week of school? Our elementary schools participate in the Kindergarten Family Connections - also known as Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills (WaKIDS) transition process.
During the first week of school for the District, kindergarten students and their guardians will be invited to the school to have an individual meeting with their kindergarten teacher. During this meeting, the teachers get to know more about your child. There will also be some time for your child to see and learn specific routines of their classroom.
Kindergarten parents will be hearing from their child's teacher the week of August 24. If a family has not heard from their teacher by August 28th, they should contact their child's school!
|
Kindergarten registration
Do you know someone with a student who is entering kindergarten this fall? Please encourage them to register their student ASAP so we can get our students assigned to a classroom and scheduled for a Kindergarten Family Connections visit with their teacher!
Families can register online, at their neighborhood school, or at the District office (134 Marion Ave. N., Bremerton 98312).
We invite families with young children to visit our website for information on our Jump Start to Kindergarten program for young learners who will be enrolled in the Bremerton School District next fall.

Our schools are participating in a federal program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This program allows all children in the District to eat breakfast and lunch at no charge.
However, some education programs we provide are funded with state dollars and require us to submit aggregate financial data to the state. While we no longer collect free and reduced-price applications every year, we must collect Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit Application (CNEEB) forms from every family annually. This form helps us collect household information for all students attending CEP schools. Without this information, the Bremerton School District could lose important state funding for educational programs that benefit all students.
Coming soon: Orange CNEEB forms!
All families will have an opportunity to fill out a CNEEB; schools will be sending home printed CNEEB forms in early September. You can download/print the form from the District website.
Families that are interested in receiving the Summer EBT (S-EBT) must have an approved current year CNEEB on file.
We’re excited to offer no-cost meals to all students and appreciate your help. If you have any questions, please contact Alexis Esquivel-Sawyer at 360-473-4717 or Ashley Guerrero at 360-473-4716.

If you qualify for free or reduced-price meals based on household size or income or, if you receive Basic Food, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Food Distribution on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), or have been directly certified as eligible for free or reduced-price meals, your student may be eligible for a free ASB card or decreased fees to participate in other school programs, field trips and other program fees.
Note:
This is not an application for free or reduced-price meals.
Submitting/not submitting this form will not affect your child’s eligibility for free or reduced-price meals or Summer-EBT benefits.
This form is in addition to the CNEEB form all families are asked to complete so the District can continue to receive state funding for educational programs (see CNEEB information below).
If you believe you qualify, you may download this form and:

|
Skyward was updated over the summer! The new version—SkywardQ—is more user-friendly and intuitive. Your login credentials remain the exact same.

Please check your phone numbers in SkywardQ!
In Skyward Q, each parent can have multiple phone numbers listed in their account.
- ParentSquare only imports the #1 phone number.
- Parents will automatically receive text messages from ParentSquare if the #1 phone number is a mobile number.
- Parents can opt-in (or out) of text messaging by setting their notification preferences in ParentSquare, or updating their phone numbers in Q so that their #1 phone number is a mobile number.
We encourage all parents to log-in to SkywardQ and check their contact information, and update their phone numbers accordingly.

The Bremerton School District utilizes a communication platform called ParentSquare to help us keep families better informed and more connected with our school community.
With ParentSquare, families receive all school and classroom messages in one place and translated into their preferred language—whether by email, text, app, or web. Parents can also send and receive messages with teachers and staff without having to look up an email address!
ParentSquare can be used on any mobile device or computer. To get the most out of ParentSquare, we encourage you to download the free mobile app, available for iOS and Android. You can also access ParentSquare from your web browser at www.parentsquare.com.
Even if you don’t plan to use the mobile app, we encourage you to to activate your account via a desktop computer so you can select your preferences on when and how you receive communication. Activating your account takes less than a minute!
ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent, using the email and phone number in SkywardQ. All parents in the District who have not previously activated their ParentSquare account will receive an invitation email or text to join ParentSquare the week of August 24. If you do not receive an invitation or would like to get started with ParentSquare sooner, you can log-in at the ParentSquare website using the email address that is on-file in Skyward with the District.
If you don't receive an invitation and would like one, please email Communications@BremertonSchools.org and include your name, student name(s) and schools with which you are affiliated.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting your student’s success.

Closed Campuses
Our campuses, including our athletic facilities, are closed to the public during school hours. For student, staff and visitor safety, the gates surrounding our buildings are locked during the school day and access to the school is through the main entrance only. The gates are unlocked after school hours.
For information on facility rentals, please visit our website at BremertonSchools.org/rentals.

Guidelines for visiting a school
Before entering the school, visitors must have their ID scanned by the Bremerton School District's visitor management system "Raptor." Learn more here.
If a visitor is experiencing any symptoms of illness, they should not enter the school facility.

We will be running the same bus routes (with a few minor adjustments) that we ran last year! Some routes are still combined. We've added an additional route for Armin Jahr to pick up students who are in the "walk zone" and get them safely to the new interim campus on Wheaton Way.
All bus routes are updated and posted on the District website.
Please check your bus route before the first day of school as some bus stop times may have changed slightly. Please have your student arrive at the bus stop 5 minutes ahead of their scheduled stop time.
Please keep in mind that buses may be late or early the first couple of weeks of school as students continue to be added and routes are adjusted.
Questions about bus routes? Call the transportation office at 360-473-0507.
|
Special Education Bus Routes
Families with students assigned to Special Education routes will be contacted by the transportation team with information on your student's route. If you do not hear from us by mid-day August 28, please contact the transportation office at 360-473-0507.
|
Kindergarten students riding the bus
For safety reasons, a parent/guardian must be present when a kindergarten student is dropped off at a bus stop. In the event that there is not a parent/guardian to meet the kindergarten student, the bus driver will communicate to the transportation dispatcher and continue on the route with the student on board. The dispatcher will contact the parent/guardian who will need to make arrangements with the transportation dispatcher regarding where they can meet the bus along the route to retrieve the student from the bus.
Kindergarten parents are encouraged to download the StopFinder app (see below).
