Message from Principal Wilkinson: Possible Student Walkout on February 20th

Posted Date: 02/19/26 (03:00 PM)

Dear BHS Families,

We have been informed that some Bremerton High School students have indicated that they are planning a peaceful "ICE OUT" demonstration along Warren Ave. tomorrow morning at 11am.  Students have shared that they intend to express their views respectfully while exercising their First Amendment rights.  See graphic below that has been circulating on social media.

This is a student-led initiative.  Our priority remains maintaining a safe and respectful school environment for all students, whether or not they choose to participate.  While this is not a school or district sponsored event, we will have staff present at the demonstration to help ensure student safety.  Staff will not participate in or direct the demonstration; they will be present solely to support student safety and respond if assistance is needed.

If your student participates:
- They will be marked absent for any instructional time missed, consistent with our standard attendance practices.
- Families will receive and automated notification of the absence.
- Classroom learning will continue as usual

We encourage you to speak with your student about the walkout and their plans for participation.  If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to myself or Assistant Principals Streck, Prosser, or Judie.  Thank you for your partnership and support.

Sincerely,

Erin Wilkinson
Principal
Bremerton High School
