Dear Bremerton High School families:
It is with profound sadness that we share information about an incident involving two Bremerton High School students that took place last night. The tragic event resulted in the death of one student, the arrest of another, and is currently the subject of an ongoing law enforcement investigation. Our thoughts are with the students’ family and all those affected by this heartbreaking event.
To support our school community, we have made additional counselors, psychologists, and support staff available to students and staff at Bremerton High School. Our team will be available to provide a safe space for students and staff to process their feelings and receive additional support.
We recognize that news of this nature can bring feelings of fear, anxiety, or sadness for both students and adults. It’s important to acknowledge these feelings and seek support when needed. Everyone responds differently to loss. There is no right or wrong way to feel.
Here are a few resources to help navigate conversations with students following this incident.

How to talk to children about difficult news (American Psychological Association)
Helping Children Cope After a Traumatic Event (Child Mind Institute)
If a student needs support, please reach out to our counseling office at (360) 473 - 0830. We encourage you to speak with your student about this news and remind them that support is available if they need to talk.
